Megan M. Mullican helped initiate hearing testing for newborns in Mississippi
HATTIESBURG, MS, July 20, 2010 /Children and Youth PR News/ -- Megan M. Mullican, Audiologist for Ear, Nose and Throat Associates at Hattiesburg Clinic, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in audiology.
A 22-year veteran of her field, Megan M. Mullican was one of the first audiologists to work for the Mississippi State Department of Health to help develop the Infant and Toddler Program (also known as First Steps) including early intervention to test infant hearing at birth. She has devoted most of her career to Hattiesburg Clinic. Noted for her expertise in patient care, she works with patients of all ages from newborns to the elderly, testing hearing, balance, and implementing hearing aid fitting procedures.
Ms. Mullican received a master of science in deaf education in 1979 from the University of Southern Mississippi and a bachelor of science in biology, chemistry and communications in 1972 from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She also completed graduate work in 1988 at the University of Southern Mississippi to obtain her licensure and certification in audiology.
She is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Ms. Mullican gives generously to a number of charities, among them the Arthritis Foundation, Paralyzed Veterans of America, the March of Dimes Foundation, the World Diabetes Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Easter Seals, the Korean War Memorial (in honor of her father), and Mouth and Foot Painting Artists.
